     Education as a tool of change and science to get translated into technologies has been the pursuit of humans to benefit mankind. I hope that the deliberations on the Departmental Profile will definitely harness the future strategy of the college in general and the Department of Physics in particular.

     The motto underlying the message is that the Physics is the most fundamental science and that it is enjoyable. The beauty of Physics is that it is based on easy-to-understand and simple principles.

     Being a description of the nature around us, Physics is our best friend from the day of our existence. It extensively gives us to understand the principles and equations of Physics and their applications in real life. The subject then appears to be friendly and enjoyable. It is the basis of boom of technology we see around us.

     We cannot see, hear, think, act without Physics. Physics finds its applications in Medical Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Aeronautics, Astronomy to name few. It has made our life easy, luxurious and comfortable. However, to be able to apply these principles and equations correctly in a given physical situation, one needs further training.

     “Physics is NOT being read; Physics is being done”, they say. The study of Physics, therefore cannot be and should not be executed as a humanities subject is done. You have to be with pencil, paper, calculator and graph book with you while studying Physics.

     The Department offers BG Courses in Physics and is affiliated to the University of Kashmir, Srinagar. The Department has grown enormously in terms of infrastructure, and attained self-sufficiency in terms of facilities required in the labs for conducting the lab course smoothly. In addition to the normal funding given by the Govt. of J&K, the UGC as well has provided sufficient funds for purchase of books, laboratory apparatus and other equipment.

     The students are given individual care, they are provided study material (in WhatsApp groups, Telegram groups and Google Classrooms) after teaching-learning of a particular topic is completed. The Departments makes optimum use of the Information & Communication Tools (ICT). The teaching-learning process is evaluated via regular class tests and assignments given to the students.

• The Departments also offers free coaching for MSc Physics Entrance exams held by various universities, IITs and IISc Bangalore.
