About the Department

Government Degree College Bijbehara is one of the recently establishment co-education colleges in the Southern part of Kashmir established in 2005, having 8 acres of land. It is located at Nilandras on Bijbehara Pahalgam road falling in the north of district Anantnag. The Department of English, one of the first departments of the College, began functioning from The Golden Threshold, peopled by several distinguished faculty and creative writers, the Department has grown in terms of the student enrollment, faculty numbers. It offers BA courses in traditional Literary Studies, General English Studies, Skill Enhancement Courses and Electives under CBCS and NEP-2020 that cater to a wide range of faculty and student interests.
